Theresa McCormick Promoted to Director of Programs
Theresa McCormick joined Second Harvest Heartland in 2013 as an engagement officer, interacting with donors and leading weekly tours of the Maplewood facility. In 2015, she was promoted to major gift officer before becoming a produce strategy manager in 2016 and helping to start the Midwest Region Produce Cooperative. In the director of programs role, McCormick will oversee Second Harvest Heartland’s SNAP and Child Hunger teams.
“Theresa brings a wealth of valuable experience in donor relationships, operations and proven skills in driving new projects from conception to successful operation,” said Thierry Ibri, chief operations and programs officer.
For McCormick, the role is deeply personal. “I was that college kid on campus, living off of rice, noodles and eggs,” McCormick said. “I remember having to make some tough choices about how to stretch my budget. It wasn’t until I started learning about hunger on college campuses that I realized ‘oh wow, that was me.’”
McCormick is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire with degrees in English and Spanish.
“What I have loved about my time here has been the opportunity to see hunger relief and the work we do from so many different angles,” she said. “To me, that’s the foundation of innovation! I’m excited to bring all of that work and perspective to our programs.”
