Join Us for Second Harvest Heartland's First-Ever 24-Hour Harvest Giving Day on May 20

As we head into our second summer since the Covid pandemic began, we’re hopeful for better, hunger-free days to come. But if we don’t rally together and continue to fight hunger in full force, our neighbors could face the hungriest summer in memory.

Join our 24-Hour Harvest Giving Day on May 20 to raise enough funds for one million meals and to expand awareness around the hunger crisis right here in our own backyard.

Here’s what you need to know about this supercharged event to fight hunger in Minnesota:

COVID-Era Hunger: A Solvable Problem

In the past year, the impact of COVID has caused hunger to surge to unprecedented levels and we've set a new, distressing record:

Today, 1 in 9 Minnesotans, including 1 in 6 kids, don’t know where their next meal will come from.

The good news is that there’s enough food for everyone in the heartland — our challenge is to make sure everyone has access to it. We believe that hunger is our community’s biggest solvable problem.

Together we can set the record straight and help solve COVID-era hunger.

One Million Meal Goal

Our 24-Hour Harvest Giving Day goal is to raise enough funds to provide ONE MILLION MEALS for our 1 in 9 neighbors facing hunger. To reach our goal, we need to raise $333,000 by midnight on May 20.

On May 20 — and the weeks leading up to it — let’s elevate awareness around the hunger crisis so many of us are experiencing now, right here in the heartland — and how it’s solvable if we all pitch in together.

Look for special coverage from Twin Cities media partners including KARE 11, KSTP and WCCO, and you’ll hear and see us on TV, radio, and online in the upcoming weeks.

You don’t have to wait until May 20 to help reach our goal! Donate now through May 20, and your 24-Hour Harvest gift will be matched, up to $333,000.

Get Involved!

Here’s how you can participate in the 24-Hour Harvest Giving Day event, and help us reach our one-million meal goal by May 20:

  • Donate today at 2harvest.org/24hour
  • Join our Facebook Live event, hosted by KSTP-TV, at 7:30 p.m. on May 20 to hear from Allison O’Toole, CEO of Second Harvest Heartland.
  • Spread the word by sharing the 24-Hour Harvest Giving Day with your social media network—use the hashtag #24HourHarvest.

Every $1 Doubles to Help Provide 6 Meals

Now through May 20, your 24-Hour Harvest gift can DOUBLE in impact, thanks to generous matching funds from The Cargill Foundation, Delta Dental and other generous sponsors. That means every $1 can now provide twice as many meals for local kids, families and seniors facing hunger, and help us reach our goal of one million meals.
