Chipping in to Feed Our Hungry Neighbors
For 60 years, AdvisorNet Financial has cultivated a culture of giving and volunteerism. The Minneapolis-based company—which provides services and products that help independent financial advisors operate their firms more efficiently and competitively—has supported the hunger relief efforts of Second Harvest Heartland for more than 15 years. From hosting ice cream socials to charity golf tournaments, the financial organization has made feeding our hungry neighbors a priority.
Jeanne Wiedewitsch is vice president of advisor experience at AdvisorNet Financial.
“Second Harvest Heartland is a natural choice for us to lend our support to because hunger is a big issue locally and a cause that really resonates with our employees,” she said. “We have a very philanthropic group here at AdvisorNet, and we constantly strive to find good partners.”
When AdvisorNet decided to start a golf tournament for advisors to help celebrate their successes, it quickly turned into a fundraising event.
“In the past, we’ve done different things to encourage giving depending on the time of year, but our ‘Chip in for Charity’ event was really something special,” Wiedewitsch said. “We raised just over $18,000 for Second Harvest Heartland and our hungry neighbors.”
Events like Chip in for Charity aren’t the only way the organization gives back. Once a year, AdvisorNet advisors, clients and employees get together for a day of service. This year, the group will be packing food at Second Harvest Heartland’s new Brooklyn Park facility.
