Together, We Can Kick Hunger

December 19, 2019 By: Tina Mortimer Category: SHH News

While the economy continues to improve since the Great Recession, many Americans are still struggling to make ends meet. Too many of our neighbors are one flat tire or illness away from facing hunger. Parents skip meals so their kids can eat, seniors skip meals so they can pay for needed medications. We’re talking about hard-working Americans like John and Patience, Mary and her two young boys, and Heidi and her family of five. These are families from every zip code across the Midwest.

There’s no denying that hunger is a big problem, but it’s a solvable problem if we all work together. This January, make a resolution that’s easy to keep—resolve to join the fight to kick hunger. All it takes is a few dollars, a few pounds of food or a few hours volunteering to make a difference. You can start by joining Second Harvest Heartland and WCCO Radio for the 11th annual Let's Kick Hunger Radiothon. This annual event takes place Thursday, January 16, 6 a.m. - 7 p.m., at Mall of America and promises to be fun for the whole family.

Over the past 10 years, the radiothon has raised more than $2 million towards hunger relief in our community.

Let’s Kick Hunger Day is presented by WCCO Radio and sponsors Compeer Financial, General Mills, Taste of the NFL with Land O’ Lakes.
