Target turns a loss of power into a gain for our neighbors in need

Last weekend, a local Super Target store lost power--including power to the coolers and freezers that keep their food fresh. They were at risk of losing all the food, but thanks to a quick-thinking manager, the food is already on its way to the dinner tables of families in need.

Target contacted the Food Rescue department at Second Harvest Heartland, asking if we had a truck available to collect the food quickly before it became unsalvageable. Luckily, one of our Food Rescue agencies, Manna Market, was able to provide a truck and driver at the last minute to save 95% of all the food that would have otherwise gone to waste.

Special thanks to Super Target and Manna Market for this quick turnaround that will be a huge benefit for our neighbors this week!
