Help Fill Another Table During Hunger Action Month
September is a time when many of us in Minnesota are thinking about heading back to school, enjoying the fleeting warmth before fall settles in and maybe even starting to think about plans for the holidays.
At Second Harvest Heartland we start thinking about the Thanksgiving season in September. We know that while many of us will begin to plan large gatherings and meals with our friends and family, one in 10 people right here in Minnesota and western Wisconsin will struggle to put a meal on their table tonight.
Beginning today, the start of Hunger Action Month, we’re asking for your help in providing 12 million meals now through Thanksgiving Day for our hungry neighbors in need.
During the next 30 days, it’s easy to make a big impact. Here are three ways you can get involved:
- Donate: Your gift in September will be matched by the Xcel Energy Foundation and a group of generous donors, up to $50,000.
- Volunteer: For every hour of your time spent volunteering in September, Bremer Bank will give $5 up to $50,000.
- Go Orange: The color orange is a symbol of hunger. Show your support by wearing orange on Sept. 14 for Hunger Action Day and all month long. You can also dedicate your Facebook status, host a Food & Fund Drive, or attend one of the many events being help this month!
