Volunteer Families Pack Nearly 50,000 Meals in One Day
More than 600 volunteers came together to sort and pack food on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day to help feed our hungry neighbors.
Bring Your Child to Serve Day is an annual Second Harvest Heartland event where hundreds of volunteers sort and pack food to be distributed to more than 1,000 food pantry and agency partners across Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
Together, these amazing volunteers worked a combined total of 1,000 hours and packed nearly 50,000 meals at our Brooklyn Park and Maplewood facilities!
“We are grateful for the many volunteers that chose to spend their day off with us,” said Paige Stein, volunteer coordinator at Second Harvest Heartland. “It’s inspiring to see parents bringing in their children to volunteer and groups of youth wanting to give back. We are fortunate to have volunteers of all ages that are so passionate about helping their hungry neighbors.”
Thank you to Bremer Bank for sponsoring this event, and to everyone who gave back to their communities on such an important day. Want to join these individuals in giving back? Sign up for a volunteer shift with us today!
