Keep the Giving Spirit Alive and Volunteer With Us Today

We’ve told you before how proud we are of the level of volunteer engagement at Second Harvest Heartland and the greater Twin Cities area. For the month of December, we have completely full volunteer shifts: about 3,000 individual volunteers will donate their time and energy this month.

But the need for volunteers doesn’t subside when the holidays are over. In fact, January and February are some of our most difficult months to fill volunteer shifts. We’re anticipating a 20 percent drop in volunteer participation in January, a plunge that significantly hinders our ability to pack and distribute the food that our neighbors so desperately need. We need your help.

This New Year, we hope you’ll resolve to fight hunger with Second Harvest Heartland as a volunteer. Volunteers sort, pack and label the food that goes directly to families in need. Your help can prevent our neighbors from having to make difficult decisions in 2013—decisions like whether to pay rent or put food on the table. Difficult decisions that no one should ever have to make.

Sign up to volunteer today and bring a little warmth and light to the winter ahead.
