Fun and Easy Ways to Fight Hunger This Summer

Local businesses are stepping up in big ways this summer with promotional opportunities that give you an opportunity to make a difference in your own neighborhood. Below are just a few of the many campaigns that are raising funds for Second Harvest Heartland and our hunger-relief efforts. Consider participating in one of these, or start your own campaign to help our hungry neighbors in need.

Panda Express: Family Day – June 8th
Each plate purchased at any Panda Express will help provide 12 meals to those in need. All proceeds will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the founders of Panda Restaurant Group—up to $1 million. Funds generated at each Panda Express restaurant will benefit the local food bank in that area.

IKEA: Feed the Future – Month of June
IKEA will donate $1 to food banks nationwide when one of three healthy children’s meal options is purchased at stores during the month of June—up to $50,000. Customers can also donate $1 at the register during checkout. Funds generated at each IKEA will benefit the local food bank in that area.

Twin Cities Donut Crawl (Saturday, June 13, 9am-noon, St. Paul Mears Park)
Make your way to Mears Park on June 13 for the biggest donut event of the year! Stroll through the park and enjoy treats from nine local donut shops, plus coffee and juices. Tickets begin at $35 and include nine donuts, unlimited coffee, and a T-shirt. Ten percent of the event proceeds benefit Second Harvest Heartland and those we serve.

AdvisorNet Financial Ice Cream Social – July 14
In recognition of hunger awareness, please join AdvisorNet Financial on July 14 from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm to for their 10th Annual Ice Cream Social. Ice cream will be served on the first floor at 701 4th St S., in downtown Minneapolis. Donations to Second Harvest Heartland are encouraged.

Cup and Cone 1 Treat, 1 Cause – July 30
For every specially marked treat purchased on July 30 during Marketfest, Cup and Cone will donate $3 to Second Harvest Heartland, up to $1,000. Cup and Cone is located at 2126 4th Street in White Bear Lake.

Galactic Pizza – Ongoing
One of the many initiatives Galactic Pizza engages in to fulfill their mission is to donate $1 to Second Harvest Heartland every time a customer orders the namesake pizza, “The Second Harvest Heartland.” Stop by and help make a difference today.
