Frequently Asked Questions
The BBS program is a new, one-year pilot program of Second Harvest Heartland in partnership with Catholic Charities of St. Cloud and University of Minnesota researchers. Our goal is to evaluate different ways of improving household stability among low-income Minnesotans to help us identify the most effective ways to serve our community.
Since the program is also a study to evaluate different ways of improving household stability, you will be agreeing to participate in research. This means that you will be asked to complete surveys during the program and follow-up period (a total of 30 months). There are benefits and risks to participating in research which are fully explained in the informed consent form in this packet.
Once you are enrolled in the program, we will not re-evaluate your eligibility for the program at any point. So, if your income changes or you move, you can continue in the program.
You will be asked to complete surveys every three months during the program and every four to six months in the follow-up period. If you are assigned to a group that receives case management services, you will meet with your case manager at Catholic Charities in St. Cloud once a month during the program.
You will receive survey payments on your prepaid debit card that is distributed at the enrollment session. GiveCard is the card issuing platform used to issue and manage payment cards for this program. This card will be re-loaded each time you complete a survey. You will want to keep this card for the program duration.
You can use your prepaid debit card for eligible purchases anywhere Visa is accepted. The balance cannot be transferred to another card or bank account or used at an ATM. It cannot be used for transactions outside the US or for security brokers/dealers, dating/escort services, massage parlors, betting/casino gambling, lotteries, government licensed online casinos and horse/dog racing.
You can check the card balance by logging into the GiveCard website (www.givecardplatform.com/cardholders) or you can call GiveCard Support at 908-529-0955.
No, a transaction will be declined if there are not enough funds on the card.
If your card is lost or stolen, you should report it immediately by contacting GiveCard Support:
- Email:support@givecard.io
- Phone: 908-529-0955
GiveCard Support will help with replacement cards.
The balance will remain until the card expires 4 years after it is issued.
