The Challenge: Who can fund the most meals?

On September 8, Minnesota takes on Chicago, but the competition isn’t only on the field. Second Harvest Heartland is launching the Kickoff to End Hunger Challenge with Northern Illinois Food Bank to see who will emerge as the champion in the contest to raise the most funds to provide meals. 

Hunger relief is more important than ever right now. One in five households throughout our state cannot afford the food they need. Many of those same Minnesotans depend on SNAP grocery assistance to bridge the gap. Now that the largest SNAP cuts in history have been signed into law, 450,000 Minnesotans will be impacted and the need will only grow. 

That's why we’re asking Minnesotans to join this challenge now as we kick off the start of football season—and Hunger Action Month—by coming together to make a difference. Every $1 donated to Second Harvest Heartland through the season opener game day on 9/8 can be matched to put 6 meals on the tables of families who need it most, thanks to our generous match sponsor Delta Air Lines.
