Pork Donation

Farmers Union Enterprises Donates 40,000 Pounds of Pork for Hunger Relief

Farmers from across the Midwest are banding together to provide a big boost to hunger relief efforts this season.

Earlier this month, Farmers Union Enterprises, which is comprised of the Farmers Union organizations in Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin, donated about 40,000 pounds of pork ribs to Second Harvest Heartland.

"Farmers Union is proud to make this donation to Second Harvest Heartland to help feed our neighbors as rising grocery prices challenge many budgets," said Minnesota Farmers Union President Gary Wertish.

"Protein, like pork, is a sought-after staple for many of our neighbors and is one of our least donated product categories. At a time when more Minnesotans than ever are turning to the hunger relief network for support, this donation will benefit thousands of families who can't afford the food they need to thrive," says Lindsey Ochmanek, Vice President of Sourcing and Demand Planning at Second Harvest Heartland.

Agricultural producers are vital partners in our work to end hunger, and we at Second Harvest Heartland are grateful for the continued support of Farmers Union Enterprises.
