Summer Meals for Kids

A partnership with KARE 11 Sunrise

This summer, Second Harvest Heartland is partnering with KARE 11 Sunrise to raise awareness about summer hunger. When school is not in session, food insecurity for kids ticks up. While school meals help meet the nutritional needs for children nine months out of the year, summer is a time of greater need for kids in Minnesota. That’s why we’re teaming up with KARE 11 Sunrise to ensure that kids have access to free summer meals, so they are free to have fun. Read on for details on how to get involved and double your impact during the month of June

Free summer meal sites aren’t the only option for anyone in need of help. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), neighborhood food shelves and distribution sites, and other programs are available to keep everyone fed and well, especially as we continue to deal with high prices at the grocery store. Check the Hunger Solutions resource map or call 1-844-764-5513 to learn more.
