On March 16, 2020, Minnesota Central Kitchen served its first prepared meals to our community thanks to the culinary ingenuity of the team at Chowgirls Catering and the meal distribution expertise of Loaves & Fishes.

What began as a COVID-response initiative of Second Harvest Heartland to address immediate hunger, employment, and food rescue needs, steadily evolved into a collaboration of more than 100 partners working together to nourish our community. In our first year, we’ve provided more than 1.3 million prepared meals across the Twin Cities metro.

We’ve learned a lot this past year. Primarily that prepared meals are a necessary ingredient in our work to address and end hunger. So as we enter our second year of operations, we’ll continue to meet urgent community need while expanding to serve areas of persistent hunger and greatest barriers to access. That means bringing prepared meals to neighborhood food shelves, deploying a temperature-controlled meal mobile, and continuing to rapidly respond to where the need is greatest. But we can’t do it without you.

We’re asking all of you to pitch in for Minnesota Central Kitchen to ensure ready-made meals are a permanent part of hunger relief:

Donate Today. Pitch in for the Kitchen. All gifts will be matched up to $250,000.
