Update to our donors: A notification about a data breach

A recent ransomware attack resulted in a security breach within the world’s largest cloud software company serving nonprofits. The company affected, Blackbaud, is one of our software vendors and hosts some Second Harvest Heartland information. Most importantly, no credit card or bank account information was accessible at any point during this data breach.

Protecting the security and privacy of our supporters’ personal information is of the utmost importance to us, and we are taking this matter very seriously. Upon learning of the breach, we immediately engaged cybersecurity professionals and commenced an internal investigation to analyze any information that had been stored within Blackbaud’s applications. At Second Harvest Heartland, we take very seriously the responsibility that comes with holding private information entrusted to us by our donors. We are working closely with Blackbaud to complete a thorough investigation of the incident and to implement new safeguards to ensure this does not happen again.
