Each year, volunteers across the country come together on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to serve their neighbors and communities in honor of Dr. King. As part of this national movement, we’re once again hosting “Bring Your Child to Serve Day” on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. This day of service will help Second Harvest Heartland provide food to the 1 in 8 children who don’t know where their next meal will come from.
We're excited to offer parents and their children an opportunity to volunteer together as a community and generate awareness of the issue of hunger. The best part? This year’s Bring Your Child to Serve Day will take place in our newly renovated Brooklyn Park volunteer center—the heart and soul of our scaled-up hunger-relief operation.
WHAT: Children ages six and up and their parents will work in shifts sorting and packing food for the more than 500,000 individuals and families in need of meal support in our community. See our age guidelines here for required adult to child ratios.
