Second Harvest Heartland’s Food Council is dedicated to spreading awareness of our mission, raising funds to support our work, advocating, participating in events, supporting innovation, making culinary community connections, and donating high quality food to help feed our neighbors in need.
Megan AndersonMegan Anderson has 15 years of experience in media relations, event planning, promotions and social media. She leads the Bellmont Partners Tourism and Hospitality Practice Group, and has implemented successful public relations programs on behalf of Explore Minnesota Tourism, Minneapolis Northwest Tourism, Midwest Dairy and its iconic Princess Kay of the Milky Way program and the Uptown Art Fair – the second-highest attended event in Minnesota. Her passion for telling her clients’ stories has helped gain media placements in countless local, regional and national outlets, including the TODAY show, ABC News, People Magazine, The New York Times and The Washington Post. Megan was recognized as one of AdFed’s 2016 32 Under 32 award winners for leadership and achievement in public relations.
For more than fifteen years, Megan has been building meaningful relationships and broad work experience throughout the environmental field. Since 2012, Megan has served as a consultant to mid-sized businesses and large venues, integrating sustainability in all aspects of their work. Megan engages clients by creating practical solutions, connecting a broad network of resources, and implementing resourceful and reliable project management. Much of Megan's work has been focused on waste systems - identifying areas for reduction, incorporating food rescue programs and integrating compost programming. Megan is an avid local restaurant patron and and a big fan of the local food movement.
Briana Gruenewald has an exceptional track record in journalism, cause marketing, media and blogger relations, graphic design, and promotions. She has developed and implemented award-winning communications campaigns for clients such as Second Harvest Heartland, Public Art Saint Paul, Uptown Association, Explore Minnesota and Midwest Dairy Association. Her passion for telling the stories of cause-related organizations stems from her two years as an AmeriCorps member. Prior to joining Bellmont Partners, Briana worked with ThreeSixty Journalism, where she recruited and mentored teenage writers, along with spearheading the organization’s communications and marketing efforts. In 2019, she earned her Master of Arts degree in graphic and web design from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
Simone joined D'Amico Catering in 2011 with an impressive history of education and experience in the hospitality industry. She holds a degree in Hospitality and Business Management from Washington State University. She has earned the Executive Wine Sommelier Degree from the International Wine Guild. With both national and international training, Simone has held various manager titles for fine dining restaurants, top rated hotels and the D'Amico operated Calhoun Beach Club. Simone is currently the General Manager at McNamara Alumni Center. She has superb management skills and customer service standards. “I have learned that people will never forget how you made them feel when you meet them for the first time”.
Aaron Slattery has been a member of the Marcus Hotels & Resort team for twelve plus years and currently serves as a member of its corporate F&B development team along with his role as Director of Operations at the Hilton Minneapolis/Bloomington. In his free time, Aaron enjoys spending time outdoors; hiking in state and national parks and long walks or run with his spouse and dog, Mosby. Aaron is passionate foodie with a belief that a well cooked meal and good company can influence life on so many levels. This philosophy is why he is so excited to be an ambassador for Second Harvest and assist in fundraising and donation efforts to help end hunger in his community.
