Michelle is a working mother with five children. The holidays are a special time for her and her family, especially since two of her children also have birthdays to celebrate. But, the holidays are also a difficult time. Michelle struggles to keep food on the table and the lights on in her home. Instead of enjoying the days leading up to Thanksgiving and the holidays to follow, Michelle spends her time worrying about letting her kids down.

When Michelle began receiving food from her local food shelf, everything changed. Around Thanksgiving last year, Michelle was able to get a turkey dinner for the holidays and enough food to help her stretch her budget just enough to afford two small gifts for her children.

“This pantry gives us so much more than food. It gives us a chance to celebrate the season like a normal family, and forget for a moment our everyday struggles. I'm thankful for that.”

Give to the Max Day is Nov. 16. It’s a critical time to help more families in need, like Michelle’s, have a joyous Thanksgiving.

Here are the three things you should know:

  1. Your gift can be doubled! Thanks to generous matching funds from The Mosaic Company Foundation, Post Consumer Brands and a group of generous individual donors, your gift can be doubled!
  2. Starting today, you can schedule your gift in advance and still have your donation matched and counted towards our goal of providing 12 million meals by Thanksgiving Day!
  3. When you give $150 or more, we’ll send you a hand-colored thank you note from a child you’ve helped.
