Mobile Volunteer Option: Hygiene Kits
Many families struggling with food insecurity also have a hard time affording basic non-food personal care and household products. Food shelves and other partner programs often request basic necessities—shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothpaste, etc.—but are sometimes unable to offer them consistently due to cost.
Our food shelf partners are often serving the working poor and believe that providing clients with hygiene items, in addition to food, is important to meeting their clients' basic needs.
Second Harvest Heartland’s Mobile Volunteer Option: Hygiene Kits offers a new volunteer opportunity to help provide these personal care products to our neighbors in need. The Hygiene Kit packing is an on-site volunteer activity where volunteers create hygiene kits that will be distributed through Second Harvest Heartland’s network of agency partner programs.
