Host a Food & Fund Drive

Your Gift Helps Ensure No One Has to Miss a Meal

Food-and-Fund-BoyWithSandwichFor most kids and teens, the weekends and summer months are a time for fun and freedom, but for thousands of young people in Minnesota, it means long days and empty stomachs. In fact, more than 40 percent of Minnesota K-12 students rely on free or reduced-price meals during the school year, leaving gaps in their meals when they aren’t in school for summer break.

By hosting a Food & Fund Drive this summer, you have an opportunity to help provide regular access to a balance of healthy, nutritious food—fuel for a child’s growth and ability to learn. No matter how small or large your goal, no matter if you collect funds to help distribute 3 meals for every dollar or choose to donate one of our most-needed items, your efforts in your Food & Fund Drive will make a difference for families right in our community. Second Harvest Heartland will provide you all of the tools you need to do so.

Two ways to host a Food & Fund Drive

  1. Regular Food Drive:Food Drive

Collect non-perishable food donations and monetary donations at your place of work, church, school or other organization.

Food & Fund Drive Featured Partner - General Mills

General MillsThe annual General Mills’ employee drive was once again a huge success. As with every year, employees are so energized and engaged in helping support Second Harvest Heartland, and the Foundation matches both financial and food donations. Overall the drive generated $219,229 and 26,122 pounds, providing over 679,450 meals to our hungry neighbors in need! We are so grateful to General Mills, its employees and the General Mills Foundation for their ongoing commitment to Second Harvest Heartland and to helping us end hunger.
