In the communityUnitedHealthcare

UnitedHealthcare is once again helping seniors experiencing hunger in our community through the annual WCCO TV senior hunger phone bank event held Thursday, September 22. The campaign enlisted Minnesota Vikings player Blair Walsh and former Viking Bob Lurtsema to encourage seniors and their caregivers to seek help by making a call to get local hunger relief resources and be screened for additional food support with SNAP. UnitedHealthcare volunteers help by answering phones and providing initial help to get seniors the food they need as soon as possible. On behalf of the seniors we serve with your support – thank you UnitedHealthcare!

Featured partner: Accelare

Accelare (logo med)Second Harvest Heartland’s team recently partnered with Accelare to apply their Strategy to Execution (S2E) methods and tools (WorkFit) in a ten week effort to deliver a transformational business model that supports not only our current client base, but an expansion of our products and services to reach a new population through our ‘Hunger and Health’ initiative. This groundbreaking project is designed to increase food access for low-income health care consumers as a means to simultaneously reduce hunger and improve health outcomes.

The Accelare team – with participation from Microsoft – dedicated hundreds of hours of time, along with expert guidance and resources. This pro bono work allows us to forge new and pioneering partnerships within the Healthcare industry and to launch innovative pilots that will help us to begin to close the gaps between Hunger and Health by reaching neighbors in need.
