You are Helping Families Like Maria’s Avoid Difficult Choices

January 19, 2016 By: Marie Pauley Category: SHH News

Both Maria and her husband work hard to provide for their four children. While it isn’t always easy to make ends meet, Maria’s goal is to give her children every opportunity they need to succeed.

“I want them to finish school and go to college,” says Maria. “I realize all of the things my parents did for me and now I’m trying to do the best for my kids too.”

Maria has a lot of family members nearby that are able to help with certain things, but sometimes they struggle too. With additional support from a food shelf at her children’s school and resources through Second Harvest Heartland, Maria can afford to have her kids be kids – play soccer, go to karate – and still have food on the table.
