Kim Rathjen is the program director for Latreia, a non-profit dedicated to providing community service opportunities to individuals and groups visiting the Twin Cities. She found out about Second Harvest Heartland through an online search and has been bringing groups of volunteers to the Golden Valley location ever since.

“We knew Second Harvest Heartland was involved with hunger relief. Hunger relief is a national and worldwide issue and Second Harvest Heartland helps us tell that story. Groups learn something that they can bring home with them and that impacts them,” Rathjen said.

Most of the groups that use Latreia are middle school and high school students coming from other parts of the Midwest. Twelve to 20 Latreia groups come to Second Harvest Heartland each year.

“Every group we schedule goes to Second Harvest Heartland,” Rathjen said. “Kids have a good experience and the staff is wonderful.”

Thank you, Latreia, for your continued support!
