Voices of Hunger Relief: Andrew Moua and Laura Henry
Have you ever wondered what it takes to get 20 pallets of 2,000-pound containers of cereal repacked and onto our agency partner’s shelves? While there are a lot of pieces to the puzzle, two individuals that play an important role are production coordinator, Andrew Moua, and volunteer ambassador, Laura Henry.
“As a production coordinator, my role is to plan what we do with food that comes to our warehouse and make sure the volunteers have everything they need to get items ready for distribution,” said Andrew. On the other hand, Laura works with volunteers during their shift to make sure they have everything they need for a great experience while completing the projects that Andrew has planned.
“My role supports production and Andrew works with volunteers. We approach situations differently, but we share responsibility in creating an incredible volunteer experience and to ensure that the food coming through our doors quickly gets to our hungry neighbors,” said Laura.Laura and Andrew both say that they get energy from the volunteers, “We’ve created a unique space where work isn’t really work. Volunteering is a fun, social experience and the connections we make with volunteers extend beyond the walls of Second Harvest Heartland.”
