The Twin Cities Area Gives Back, and it Shows
Here at Second Harvest Heartland, we’re continuously amazed at the generosity of the thousands of volunteers who come through our doors each year. So it was no surprise when a recent report listed the Twin Cities area at the top when it comes to residents’ engagement in volunteerism.
According to the report, 37 percent of Minneapolis-St. Paul residents volunteered for organizations in 2011: the highest rate among those in the country’s 51 largest metro areas!
And during the holiday season, our volunteers really go above and beyond. For the month of December, we have completely full volunteer shifts—all day, every day—packing, sorting and distributing food for our neighbors in need. It is projected that over 3,000 volunteers will walk through our doors this month!
Sincere thanks to all who strive to make our community a better place for everyone. We couldn’t do what we do without you!
