Our first-ever Pack-a-Thon was a huge success!

September 17, 2012 By: Sara Blair Category: WordPress Import

On Saturday, more than 250 volunteers rolled up their sleeves and donated over 500 volunteer hours at our first-ever Pack-a-Thon! By the time the last volunteer shift ended, 29,825 pounds of food was packed—the equivalent of more than 23,000 meals! In addition, over $33,000 was raised by our volunteers including a generous match from our sponsor, The Mosaic Company.

It was inspiring to see the community come together not only for the food, prizes and celebrity guests, but also to reach out and help those in need in our community. Thank you to all who volunteered or made a financial contribution! We’d also like to thank our presenting sponsor The Mosaic Company, and in-kind sponsors Kemps, Old Dutch, 7UP Bottling Company, Best Maid Cookie Company and Cub.

The need for volunteers and donations is year-round at Second Harvest Heartland. Please check out our website or follow us on Twitter and Facebook to hear about opportunities to continue to help.
