Meals for Minds Volunteer Opportunities

1 in 6 kids in our community will not get enough to eat today. Child hunger hampers a young person’s ability to learn and makes a significant impact on his or her physical and emotional development. When you put food into a child’s hands, you’re giving them the energy they need to learn and grow to their best ability.

Meals for Minds LogoYou can make a direct impact on the lives of hungry kids and families by volunteering for Meals for Minds. In partnership with Target, Second Harvest Heartland coordinates monthly grocery distributions through a mobile food pantry at 12 elementary schools in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Each child leaves the Meals for Minds pantry with 30 pounds of groceries: enough food for 25 meals and a chance at a full future. Your help makes hope possible!

This is one of the most hands-on opportunities at Second Harvest Heartland! When you volunteer with Meals for Minds, you sort food, set up food stations, provide friendly service and put food directly into the hands of our hungry neighbors. This volunteer opportunity is great for individuals, small groups and/or corporate groups looking to give direct, personal service in a fun, energetic environment.

Meals for Minds volunteer opportunities:

• Pillsbury Elementary in Minneapolis on Tuesday, September 11 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm
• Sheridan Elementary in Minneapolis on Thursday, September 13 from 6:00 – 8:30 pm
• Obama Elementary in St. Paul on Tuesday, September 18 from 5:00 – 7:30 pm
