Never underestimate the power of kids! To help promote the Summer Harvest for Kids campaign last month, our partner KSTP-TV filmed young hunger-fighters at Sunny Hollow Montessori in St. Paul. The students organized a food drive to help raise awareness for child hunger, which collected more than 500 pounds of food!

The KSTP Summer Harvest for Kids campaign was a great success thanks to our young friends at Sunny Hollow, and surpassed the goal of “$100K in a Day,” which will be split equally among Second Harvest Heartland, The Food Group, Matter and VEAP. The day not only raised more than 372,000 meals, but also highlighted the many ways community partners work to alleviate childhood summer hunger. A huge thanks to Sunny Hollow Montessori, KSTP, campaign sponsors, matching gift donors, and the community for supporting such a great day!
