Hunger is here. So are we.
Every day, in our community, neighbors of ours are struggling to put food on the table. They are moms, dads, kids, grandpas and grandmas – our neighbors all – who are missing out on the comforts of a wholesome meal. At Second Harvest Heartland, we believe no one should go hungry.
This fall we are embarking on a campaign to raise awareness of the issue of hunger in our service area. We know that hunger is in our communities, but so are we and so are our partners. It’s with our partners and new programs that we are doing more to increase access to food for our hungry neighbors.
The face of hunger and overall hunger relief system looks much different today than it did when Second Harvest Heartland was created in 2001. The system has shifted from reaching people primarily through food shelves and soup kitchens to providing new access points to get more meals to more people.
We cannot do our work alone. Join us in our work to end hunger.
