Hunger Awareness Brews in North Loop
The Street Pub by Deschutes Brewery is coming back to Minneapolis Sept. 10 as part of their seven-city nationwide tour.
With a 400-foot bar in the middle of a closed street in the North Loop, 40 beers on tap, live music, free admission, food trucks, a kid’s area and more, this is an event adults and their families alike will enjoy. And the best part? All event proceeds go to Second Harvest Heartland.
Last year, the event raised almost $80,000, providing 237,000 meals for hungry neighbors and their families.
Second Harvest Heartland’s partnership with Deschutes is a strong one. “Second Harvest Heartland has done such great work in the community,” Joey Pleich of Deschutes Brewery said. “It was a no-brainer for us to work with you guys.”
The event comes just in time for Hunger Action Month, an opportunity to raise awareness of hunger in our communities in the month of September.
“We’re going to be in the same location, right down there on Washington and Second [Street],” Pleich said. “And we’re going to have more real estate this year.”
“To see so many people come out in a matter of eight hours in such force,” Pleich said of last year’s event, “to raise money for Second Harvest Heartland and just kind of share in the community, it was very, very cool.”
