Years ago, Kari found out her employer matches donations to Second Harvest Heartland, and she has taken advantage of the opportunity to double her impact since. Every year, Kari gives a gift to help end hunger in the heartland, and her company, UnitedHealth Group, gives the same amount in support.

Kari told us she’s deeply moved by the idea of child hunger. “As a mother of two young kids,” Kari said, “I couldn’t imagine what families go through to put food on the table.”

Through matching gifts, she knows she can make twice the difference. “In a way it was a no-brainer—I can support the causes I feel passionate about and double my contributions at the same time,” Kari said.

And for donors who gave during the holidays, it’s not too late for their gift to be matched! Just visit http://www.2harvest.org/matchmygift to learn more.

Last year, matching gifts alone generated more than $471,000—enough for more than 1.4 million meals.

“Even though I might not be able to contribute as much as I want to,” Kari said, “by having that match from my employer, that allows me to double the contribution I am able to make.”

Thank you, Kari, for your support!
