NordicAmericanThanksgivingBreakfastLogoIn 1985, the Sons of Norway founded the Nordic American Thanksgiving Breakfast in order to bring together people in the Twin Cities of Nordic heritage and offer them an opportunity to give thanks for the privileges of freedom, faith, family and friends.

For the fourth year, Second Harvest Heartland was one of two event beneficiaries. The 2013 Nordic American Thanksgiving Breakfast was held on Thursday, November 26. The morning included more than a delicious meal for the nearly 1,000 guests. Master of Ceremonies, Don Shelby; guest speakers from St. Olaf College, Thrivent Financial and Minneapolis Area Synot of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Minnesota all share their own personal stories of thanks. Guests also enjoyed musical entertainment from The St. Olaf Choir and M-Saxteens from the 34th Infantry Division "Red Bull" Band.

While coming together as a Nordic community to give thanks is the mission of the breakfast, the Sons of Norway also gives guests an opportunity to give back. Second Harvest Heartland received $6,164 from this year's breakfast which will allow us to provide over 22,800 meals, just in time for the holiday season.

Sincere thanks to the Sons of Norway members, guests and supporters for their generous support!
