Give Back on Bring Your Child to Serve Day
Each year, millions of people across the country come together on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to serve their neighbors and communities in honor of Dr. King’s legacy. As part of this movement, we’re hosting the fourth annual “Bring Your Child to Serve Day,” sponsored by Bremer Bank.
We’re excited to offer parents and children an opportunity to volunteer together and generate awareness around the issue of hunger! In 2015, more than 440 volunteers donated over 880 hours of service during the event.
New in 2016, we are adding activities at our Maplewood facility, including:
- Hunger 101: A unique role play simulation in which participants are asked to take on the life circumstances of someone in Minnesota at risk for hunger. The goal of the simulation is for each participant to try and get enough food to feed his or her family for one day by tapping the resources of the food shelf, county human service office, grocery store and bank.
- Assembly Line Grocery Packing
Bremer Bank, a longtime supporter of community service with a keen interest in hunger relief, is sponsoring the event. Thank you, Bremer Bank!
