Clara is Fighting Hunger, One Lemonade Stand at a Time
During the summer, we often have the pleasure of meeting local kids who stop by our offices to drop off food and financial donations they have raised during their days off from school.
Five-year-old Clara is just one of those special kids we’ve met this summer. Last month, Clara decided to set up a lemonade stand and raise money to help someone this summer. With assistance from her little brother and parents, they baked cookies and made lemonade and iced tea.
When her parents asked her where she wanted her money to go, Clara said “I want to feed hungry kids.”
At the end of the day, Clara raised $33.43 in sales and tips—all of which she dropped off at Second Harvest Heartland.
According to Clara’s mom, Marie, Clara has always been equally curious and compassionate.
“One time she asked me why some people don’t have enough to eat and why some people don’t have their own cars. She asked why we couldn’t just share with them and give them rides,” said Marie.
We want to thank Clara and her family for their giving spirit and generous donation!
