Senior Food for Health
Every month, Second Harvest Heartland delivers food to low-income to seniors living in senior apartment complexes. For these seniors, the Senior Food for Health program is a vital source of nutrition.
Helping seniors get the nutrition they need is an important contribution to the overall well being of our community. Inadequate diets may complicate or contribute to the presence of chronic health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer. Almost half of homebound or recently hospitalized seniors are at high risk of malnutrition. Access to healthy foods helps seniors receive the nutrition they need and can improve their quality of life.
Any SHH agency in good standing serving low-income seniors in independent living residences may participate in the Senior Food for Health program. For more information contact the CSFP Site Coordinator at 651.209.7915.
