The Purchase Program supplements food donations. Volume purchasing power and national networks allow Second Harvest Heartland to secure items that our 950 member agencies tell us they need most -- at the best possible prices. We buy large quantities of nutritious food and costly household items, such as laundry soap and toilet paper. Most essential food and household products are not donated in sufficient quantities to meet demand.
