Second Harvest Heartland has a network of more than 400 partnerships with growers, processors, manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers on local, regional and national levels.
Second Harvest Heartland is the Upper Midwest's largest member of America's Second Harvest - The Nation's Food Bank Network. The majority of products we distribute come from local donors who wish to help end hunger in our communities. All types of grocery products are donated and transported to the Second Harvest Heartland distribution facilities. Products are safely handled and stored according to both government and industry standards.
Second Harvest Heartland product inventory is made available to our 1,000+ member agency programs in Second Harvest Heartland's service area to be picked up or delivered in a timely manner.
Member agencies distribute donated products to community members in need at a variety of social service agencies, such as:
- Food shelves
- Youth programs
- Senior centers
- Homeless shelters
- Many other non-profits
